Antique Brass Fahrenheit Gauge

Stock Number: #384

Description

Extremely Brilliant by Display, Solid Brass Fahrenheit Gauge, Manufactured by THE STANDARD THERMOMETER CO. of PEABODY MASS. Patented 1885, 1886 and 1888.

This is a real beautiful collector's item. Professionally hand-polished and sealed for the best of museum displays and preservation. Never tested, used only for presentation.

The original dial template is in place. It appears to be made of paper material, which if I understand correctly is very rare and special. It does have some areas of discoloration however the numbers and text are still very visible as the photos display for you. There is a darker area that surrounds the text "FAHRENHEIT", at the upper center location of the face. Beyond this it is small to tiny blemishes. The brass face rim and body of gauge is in wonderful condition. It's shine is brilliant. Photos do not do this one justice. There are only very minor scratches within it's gloss. The glass face is clear and intact. There is slight movement in the glass but remains secure in place.

- The base measures approximately 7 5/8 inches in diameter

- The bezel measures approximately 7 1/4 inches in diameter and is 1 inch wide

- The glass measures approximately 5 3/8 inches in diameter

- Overall height of this article is 2 1/2 inches

- Is weighs in at just under 5 lbs
