An Attractive Rare STAR BRASS MFG Co. Modulating Steam Pressure Gauge - Suggested use aboard Ship Engine Room or Locomotive Circa 1800s

Beautifully mounted for museum presentation this antique Warren Webster steam heating system modulator gauge is a real collector's item. It has three patent dates of 1889, 1892 and 1893 found along the bottom of the face. Original cast brass case with nickel plating is in very good condition based on it's time in service. Nice regal engraved painted dial and clear original glass. Cresent moon indicator needle great condition. Both needles intact. All numbers and text easy to read. You will find small imperfections which include tiny scratches and discoloration, but as photos reveal it displays well with all it's genuine patina.

You find the following printed on the face:

"THE WEBSTER MODULATION SYSTEM OF STEAM HEATING"

"WARREN WEBSTER & CO., CAMDEN, N.J."

"VAC. PRESS."

The face also displays the famous "STAR BRASS MFG. CO. NON-CORROSIVE BOSTON" maker's mark. Just below you find "REG.U.S. PAT. OFF", "51/2 inch PAT.JULY 30, 1889, JANY 5, 1892, JULY 4, 1893 804 973".

Approximate Measurements:

Wood Mount - 8 7/8 inches in diameter by 3/4 of an inch deep

Gauge - 6 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep

The glass face - 5 inches in diameter

Weighs approximately 2.5 lbs (without packaging materials and shipping box)

Gauge has been used for display only - not tested.
