Brilliant Brass Winch Winder Instrument Handle

Stock Number: #402

Description

Beautiful Unique Rare Large BRILLIANT Brass Winch Winder Instrument with Handle.

No makers mark present. Unknown date of origination. Actual purpose is not known but it had to have played a substantial role in what ever the activity was. There are two heavy thin brass plates that are held together by a substantial brass bolt handle. When the handle is attached securely - tightened down, the top plate can be maneuvered smoothly completely around. There is a opening in the top plate where you can see through to the bottom brass plate. Two brass mounts are attached to opposite sides of the top plate. The bottom of the plates look as though they have been part of a circular moving action. Tiny scratches/grooves in a complete circular pattern, that ciruclate the entire diameter of the plate are present.

Very cool article...I just wish I knew something relevant to it's history to share with you.

Approximate Measurements:
The brass disc measures 7 1/2 inches in diameter. The two discs measure 3/8ths inches deep
The brass measures 2 3/4ths inches in diameter and approx. 1 1/8ths inch in width.

Item weighs approx. 6 lbs without packaging and shipping box.

I would suggest it's condition is very pleasing. There are some scuffs, scratches and discoloration throughout the item, none of which it is the opinion take away from the wonderful brilliant presentation this item presents!

One with a keen eye who knows what this article is, or it's use could perhaps place it back into service. If nothing else...this would absolutely make for a very unique gift or addition to your own maritime decor.
