1840's Extremely rare USLHE Filtering Sand Container

This Ca 1840's USLHE tin container was used by the keeper to filter whale oil before using it in the lamps. It bears the original brass USLHE tags, and is one of the rarest items we have. possibly made in 1838, it is one of the earliest Lighthouse artifacts in existence.
