1908 Gamewell Lighthouse Fog Signal apparatus
Stock Number: #314
Beautifully restored 1908 Gamewell Fog Signal actuating apparatus. Also pictured is a Stevens Bell Striker for reference in our collection. The US Lighthouse Establishment used Gamewell for supplying the equipment used to make the Fog Signal run at many US Lighthouses. This example, made Sept 17, 1908, is designed to pull a steam lever which would run a large Steam Whistle on the Fog Signal Building. It is run by a heavy Weight attached to the drum by cable, and suspended below the Fog Signal tower. The large brass flypaddles govern the rate and speed at which the whistle was blown. This Model 4 is restored to functional status and will work when hooked up to a whistle.
