A Rare Hand-Forged Antique Toggle Headed Whaling Iron Harpoon

This is a very sturdy antique acute-headed whaling harpoon. Late 19th - early 20th C. Iron part 20 1/4 inches in length, including the 7 inch iron head. Hand-carved would shaft portion measures approximately 48 inches in length. Overall approx. length measuring just over 68 inches. The diameter of the wood handling shaft is approximately 1.5 inches. Appears to be complete original rope-work, or portions that surround the wood...it is a striking piece and worthy of a fine established collection. You will love it!

No breaks or cracks within this piece. Great condition with it's natural patina preserved.
