Antique Walker's Excelsior IV Ship Taffrail Patent

Stunning Collector's Antique WALKER'S Excelsior IV Patent Log, Accessories and Original Storage Box. Rare authentic condition... from the rich beautiful original dove-tailed box to the solid brass/bronze instruments and accessories. Just one truly nice find! These were manufactured for use by Yachts, Motor Launches, and Fishing Craft. Circa 1900's.

Included within the interior of the box lid are the Walker Instructions for Fitting, Setting of Hands , Length of Line, Oiling, Hauling In, Testing Speed, and Storage.

This unique article has been stored within my personal maritime museum. It's genuine patina preserved over the years. One could easily spend additional time on this and bring it back to a very shiny restored display piece. I elected to let it's years in service be honored by it's natural appearance.

Printed on the white log dial face is:

"NAUTICAL MILES" - printed along the top center

"Walker's Excelsior IV Log - center, towards upper portion of face

"Made in England by Thos. Walker & Son Ltd. Birmingham"

Found within the solid brass base of the log, inscribed using raised lettering" UNSCREW". Two round brass mounts display "STARBOARD AFT". The spinner displays the Walker's maker mark of an Anchor with "T.W. EXCELSIOR" engraved just below. The black tin oil can displays just along the screw cap the following: "A REGA PRODUCT" with small symbol.

The rich wood box has a wonderful brass insignia plate with "WALKER'S "EXCELSIOR" IV" inscribed on it. Nice collector's appeal. The two brass hooks which secure the lid are intact and working. Great condition! Overall the items are in very good condition. Again, natural patina or discoloration is found, small scratches and dents, all consistent with the number of years this must have been in service. Please review photos for further condition report.
