Vintage WWII Navy Ship Wheelhouse Rudder Indicator by Evershed . We estimate Ca 1930's. Salvaged from Shipwreck
This would be found in the Wheelhouse of a Ca 1920's - 30's Navy Warship. We have seen similar ones on Historic navy museum ships. AWESOME Maritime antique item!
Black indicator reads well with the original clear glass still intact and bright white numbers and lettering. "PORT" and "STARBD" found just below the numbers.
You find the following engraved in brass plates located on the unit:
"POINTER IS HIDDEN WHEN CURRENT IS OFF"
"EVERSHED PATENT No. 199560"
"RUDDER No. 1130189", "R161 H", "INDICATOR"
" TERMINALS UNDER THIS COVER"
Approximate Measurements: 15 1/2" in heigth, by 8 1/2" at widest point, by 4" deep.
Substantial unit - weighs approximately 15 lbs (without packaging materials and shipping box)
