U.S.L.H.S TRAVELLING LIBRARY BOX

EXTREMELY RARE FIND - WE HAVE ONLY SEEN 2 OF THESE COME ON MARKET IN THE LAST 35 YEARS - ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC. This library box is composed of clear pine with bronze hardware. The box is made of 1" pine with 3/4" thick interior shelves and exterior dimensions of 24"h X 24"w X 9.5"d. These library boxes were stocked with period books and rotated between lighthouses by the district superintendent and the lighthouse supply ships while making lighthouse inspections and resupply. It was a wonderful treat to the keepers and families as they had memorized all the books by the time the new supply came once per season. All brass handles, hinges, straps, and hardware are intact and present, and the original USLHS lettering on the left door, although faded, can still be seen.
